Lamlash Lighthouse (Holy Island Inner, Old George)

United Kingdom

Built in 1877 by David and Thomas Stevenson (engineers). Oil burning, converted to gas about the same time as had new lense, so possibly all part of renovation/refurbishment works. This reduced the number of families needed/living in the lighthousekeeper cottages from four to three.
Electricification was completed in 1977, and with it full automation. It is now monitored by a local islander (or 2) visiting under the auspices of the Northern Lighthouse Board.
