Huaniaoshan (North Saddle Island). (unpublished.duplicate)

China

Huaniao Shan is the northernmost of the Maan Islands that lie some 130 kilometres southeast of Shanghai. The lighthouse is an important navigational aid for vessels arriving into Shanghai from the south.
It may well still have the original Chance Brothers of Smethwick near Birmingham optic still in situ, looking at some of the pictures on the internet this seems to show the first order optic however I have been unable to confirm what date these photographs were taken though they do appear to be quite recent.
The lighthouse is one of the oldest in China and was recognised as the "No 1 Lighthouse in the Far East" and honored by the State as a key cultural relic under state protection in 2001.
