Punta Delgada

Chile

The lighthouse was built by George Slight in 1902 but the 4th order optic from Chance Brothers of Smethwick near Birmingham was not fitted until 1907.
The lighthouse is part of a coast guard base that includes a pilot station and vessel control centre for the nearby busy Strait. The lighthouse marks the entrance to Primera Angostura (the First Narrows) of the Strait and the approach to Tierra del Fuego.
I have been unable to ascertain if the original Chance lens is still in situ.
There is a small museum on site.
