Isla Guafo

Chile

The lighthouse engineer was George Slight and it was first lit on 3rd November 1907.
Though the lighthouse itself is only 8 metres high it stands on a headland 114 metres above sea level looking out into the Golfo Corcovado.
I believe the station is still manned by 4 man crews on a 4 months on and 4 months on basis.
I have been unable to find any specific information regarding the replacement of the Chance optic so can only sumise that it is still in situ.
The lighthouse has it's own helipad and is 6 hours by boat from the nearest port of Quellon.
The island is famous for it's nesting colony of Sooty Shearwaters.
