Rose Ness Lighthouse
United Kingdom. Scotland
A stone pyramidal beacon with a wooden cross was first erected on this site in 1867 and still stands today. The next lighthouse was built in 1905 and consisted of a cast iron structure which housed the 4th order optic supplied by Chance Brothers of Smethwick near Birmingham. This was superceeded by the current glass reinforced plastic tower in 1983.
