Mohni is a small island off Cape Purekkari, about 5 km (3 mi) northeast of Vilnistu on the Pärispea peninsula. Although it is included within the borders of Lahemaa National Park, it is privately owned. The owner, a patron of the arts, held an international art festival there in 2003. The lighthouse is located on the northwestern point of the island. Site and tower closed.

About installation.

"..In 1868, a new refractive lighting apparatus of the 3rd category was installed at the lighthouse. Despite the increase in light intensity, sailors complained that the lighthouse opens late, especially in inclement weather, and asked to raise the fire higher. The hydrographic department listened to these requests and in 1871 the lighthouse tower was built on. Notice to seafarers No. 67 of October 13, 1871 announced that “in the Gulf of Finland, the lighthouse located on the northwestern side of Ekholm Island is currently being built on and lighting has begun since October 2. The tower of the lighthouse is stone, round, red with a metal lantern and with a Fresnel apparatus of the 2nd category.

The lighthouse fire is white, spinning at full height and illuminating the entire horizon, the duration between flashes of fire is 1/2 minute. The height of the fire from the base is 79, and from the level of the sea 108 feet, the horizon of the sea is 12 miles.”

The new metal lantern was made at the Libava foundry, the lighting apparatus was purchased in England, and the lamp was made in the lighthouse workshop of the Baltic Sea Lighthouse Directorate. The reconstructed lighthouse began lighting on October 5, 1871..."
