About Chanse's lens:
"... In 1861, instead of a catoptric lighting apparatus, a 3rd class dioptric light-optical apparatus purchased in France with a constant white light was installed on the lighthouse. For the first time in Russia, the apparatus was installed and debugged by Russian specialists from the Directorate of Lighthouses of the Baltic Sea. carried out by masters of foreign manufacturers, which was very expensive for the treasury.
apparatus was manufactured in St. Petersburg on a glass factory according to patterns received by Spafariev from France.
Unfortunately, the new apparatus turned out to be weaker than the old reflective one in terms of light brightness, so I had to order another one, this time in England, at the factory of the Chance brothers. He was also of the 3rd category, but had 30 refracting prisms, which concentrated the light only in the designated angle of 9 ° (from 315 to 324 °). The new apparatus illuminated the sea for the first time with its beam on October 3, 1873.
1886 - a 3rd class light-optical apparatus of the French company Barbier & Fenestre Constructeurs was installed, which is still in the lamproom, although it is not used
