The original light, a temporary structure on the beach, was destroyed by a typhoon. Ruins of the second (1849) lighthouse, which had a light tower attached to a keeper's house, can also be seen. According to DGLL remains of a primitive 18th century Dutch lighthouse are found 1.25 km (3/4 mi) northeast. Located about 50 km (30 mi) northeast of Bhimunipatnam. Site and tower status unknown.
