Sacramento (Karavaka)

India

This is one of the tallest lighthouses of India; it marks a sandy cape south of the mouth of the Vrudha Godavari, the northernmost mouth of the river. The Sacramento lighthouses replaced the former Cape Godavery lighthouses, as the mouth of the river has moved southward over the years, taking the location of the cape with it. Located on a point of land about 60 km (38 mi) south of Kakinada. Reported accessible by a walk of about 2 km (1.2 mi) from the village of Bojjovarepeta. Site open, tower closed.
