Lismore Lighthouse (Eilean Musdile, Cuileanrock)

United Kingdom

Listed by Chance records as Cuileanrock.
Lismore lighthouse is situated on Eilean Musdile in the Firth of Lorne at the entrance to Loch Linnhe. The lighthouse was built by Robert Stevenson in 1833, James Smith of Inverness was the contractor responsible for the building at a cost of £4260.
The light was first exhibited in October 1833 and became automated in June 1965 at an estimated cost of £10,000. I have presumed that with this modernisation the original Chance lens would have been removed but I have been unable to confirm this.
The building is category A listed.
