Bardsey Island Lighthouse

The lighthouse was built in 1921 and fitted with a Chance Brothers 1st order lens in 1856, one of the first manufactured by the firm. This was replaced by another Chance Brothers five panel rotating catadioptric lens in 1873. The lighthouse was electrified in 1965, automated in 1987 and solarised in 2014. This lens was decommissioned in 2014 and is now on display at the National Trust museum at Porth y Swnt near Abadaron on the Llyn Peninsular, Gwynedd, the closest town on the mainland to Bardsey Island.
