Souter Lighthouse
United Kingdom. England
Opened in 1871 and often described as the first lighthouse purpose-built for alternating electric current. An 1870 James Chance electric catadioptric optic was used early on; in 1914 a Chance Brothers bi-form first-order revolving optic was installed and remains in situ. Decommissioned in 1988 and now cared for by the National Trust.
